DESCRIPTION:

During the American Revolution, New York, as with many of the colonies, mustered its militia to help the war effort. This database is a collection of military records relating to the colonial militia during the war. In addition to providing a list of regiments from the colony, it also includes muster rolls, records of provisions, fortifications, pay rolls, and clothing acquired for the soldiers. Most soldier entries provide the enlistee's name and rank. Unit information is also provided in many records. For those persons seeking New York ancestors who may have fought in the Revolutionary War, this can be a helpful database.
